Bertie Higgins releases new song:
'The Redneck Riviera'
Florida
native Bertie Higgins has released a new song entitled
"The Redneck Riviera", named after the Gulf coast that
extends from Louisiana to Florida. Higgins, originally
born Elbert Joseph Higgins of Portuguese, Irish and
German descent; was raised in the Greek village of
Tarpon Springs, located just north of Tampa. He deems
himself as an "intellectual romantic who loves to paint
story songs about living and loving in a tropical
paradise".
The singer, whose primary sources of inspiration have been Gordon
Lightfoot, Cat Stevens and Jimmy Buffet, is primarily
known for the smash hit "Key Largo" and other songs such
as "Another Day in Paradise", "Casablanca", and "Pirates
and Poets".
Higgins has been named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has
also owned a restaurant in the Florida Keys, and his
group, "The Band of Pirates" has toured the country
extensively. His albums include "Just Another Day in
Paradise", "Pirates and Poets", "Gone with the Wind",
"Back to the Island", "Trop Rock", "island Bound" and
"Brazilia" as well as two collections albums.
